Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 12 ~ Issue 5

Abstract

Big earthquakes with the intensity of earth-quaking from VII degrees to IX degrees were forecasted to be able to occur in Viet Nam. Therefore, studying to calculate the impacts of earthquakes on building structures in Viet Nam is very necessary. This paper studies the influence of different types of soil on the structural system of high-rise buildings when the building is subjected to earthquakes. After analyzing the model in Etabs software, the authors found that different types of ground for displacement, internal force difference up to 167%. At the same time, the authors also proposed a procedure to calculate the earthquake load-bearing structures using the response spectrum of many types of copper vibrations. It helps design engineers to easily apply structural calculations

Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 12 ~ Issue 5

Abstract

Interactive diagrams have been widely used in countries around the world and have been included in design standards such as ACI-318, BS-8110. In Vietnam, recent studies have also mentioned the construction of interactive charts to design reinforced concrete columns. The article researches to set up an automatic calculation table to calculate reinforcement for rectangular columns subjected to oblique eccentric compression. The author team also built a calculation table to check the bearing capacity of columns by the interactive chart method. many calculation examples were also conducted to verify the proposed calculation table and compare it with the calculation theory and the existing reinforcement calculation program.

Studying Geological Conditions for Construction Works in Thai Nguyen City
Nhu Thi Lan Huong
Vietnam
Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 12 ~ Issue 5

Abstract

From the collected results, field drilling data, and experiments, the authors found that the phase clay layer is encountered in most of the drill holes in the area. The authors also built the relationship between the deformation modulus of clay from experimental results in the room and in the field. From there, it helps the designer to rely on the experimental results in the room to adjust and calculate the deformation of the building's foundation accurately and by the actual ground construction in Thai Nguyen. Simultaneously, the authors have successfully built a geological GIS database system for Thai Nguyen city including administrative boundaries, topography, infrastructure, traffic, hydrology, surface cover, and system. GIS database specialized in engineering geology: borehole stratigraphy.

Comparative Analysis between Two Standards TCVN 5574:2018 and TCVN 5574:2012
Tong Thu Huong
Vietnam
Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 12 ~ Issue 5

Abstract

In the new standard TCVN 5574:2018, replacing TCVN 5574:2012, there are significant changes in structure, materials and calculation methods compared with the old version TCVN 5574:2012. The standard TCVN 5574-18 has approached EC2 and ACI standards to increase international integration, and it has also changed the perspective of computational modeling, converted from stress model to strain model. This article analyzes and compares two standards to highlight new points, helping designers to distinguish easily and conveniently apply TCVN 5574:2018 in practice.

Keywords: TCVN 5574:2018, TCVN 5574:2012, Reinforced concrete, Standard, Strain model.

Studying the Effect of Corrosion on Adhesion Force in Reinforced Concrete Structures
Duong Viet Ha
Vietnam
Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 12 ~ Issue 5

Abstract

This adhesion force depends on many factors such as quality of concrete, quality of reinforcement, in which surface properties of reinforcement are important factors. When the reinforcement has not been rusted, the adhesion force between the concrete and the reinforcement is very good, ensuring that they work together. In contrast, when the reinforcement is rusted (due to corrosion), it can greatly affect the adhesion force between the concrete and the reinforcement, and thus greatly affect the simultaneous working of these two materials. Corrosion of reinforcement is really a danger that always threatens the life of structures. The authors conducted experiments on steel rusted to grades.........

Keywords: Adhesion forces, corrosion of reinforcement, steel rust, quality of reinforcement, reinforced concrete.

Determination of Optimized Ageing Mode for Al-Mg-Si Alloy
Hoang Anh Quang, Ha Bach Tu
Vietnam
Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 12 ~ Issue 5

Abstract

Ageing temperature and ageing time directly affect the hardness of aluminum alloy. The studies in this paper were carried out on Al-Mg-Si aluminum alloy samples, after hardened the samples were aged at 120÷180oC for about 2h÷6h. The experimental planning method was used to give an experimental model Y = -73,7 + 1,42Z1 + 11,58Z2 – 0,027Z1Z2 – 0,0042Z12 – 0,9Z22 (Z1- temperature, oC; Z2 – time, h; Y-hardness, HV) to find the aging mode for the highest hardness (60.6HV): 156oC-4.1h.

Designing Pd Controller for a Parallel Manipulators
Tran Xuan Minh
Vietnam
Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 12 ~ Issue 5

Abstract

Parallel robots have received increasing attention due to their inherent advantages over conventional serial mechanism, such as high rigidity, high load capacity, high velocity, and high precision. A definite advantage of parallel robots is the fact that, in most cases, actuators can be placed on the truss, thus achieving a limited weight for the moving parts, which makes it possible for parallel robots to move at a high speed. These advantages avoid the drawbacks on serial ones and make the mobile platforms of the parallel manipulators carry out higher performances. This paper using the PD controler to control parallel manipulator based on mechanical models of parallel manipulators.

Vietnam
Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 12 ~ Issue 5

Abstract

This present research article deals with the study of the chemical composition of the Ni-B plating process on the surface of Plexiglas®. The Ni-B coating is deposite on the Plexiglass (PMMA). The chemical composition of the Ni-B is evaluated with the ASTM by modern technologies such as XPS. EDX. SEM. Adhesion behavior of layer coating after different plating periods is evaluated with the ASTM standard's help. The microstructure characterization and the coating thickness are also an important influence on adhesion properties tested through SEM, EDX, XPS analysis. The Ni-B coating exhibits good adhesion on insulation with adequate time.

Keywords: Electroless plating, Ni-B coatings, adhesion behavior, coating thickness, ASTM standard.

India
Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 12 ~ Issue 5

Abstract

Bamboo is a rapidly renewable material that has many structural applications. The main objective of this study is to make beams of standard size from non structural bamboos such as Dendrocalamus giganteus by gluing them using two different adhesives namely, Urea Formaldehyde (UF) and Poly Vinyl Acetate (PVA) and make a comparative study on bending strength and maximum crushing strength and comparing the same with some well known solid woods. The strength properties of laminated beams that were made with different adhesives were then compared with some known solid wood species which are generally been used in furniture and cabinet making industry.

Abstract

Adoption of new technology is critical for food security and economic development especially in developing countries. For a technology to be successfully implemented in an area, the priorities and concerns of farmers should be taken into consideration. This report seeks to evaluate the socio-economic and biophysical factors that determine adoption of ponds for rainwater harvesting. The study area was based in Masongaleni location Kenya where 65 households were randomly sampled from 16 villages. The survey captured both adopters and non-adopters of ponds. Questionnaires were administered in each household for data collection. CSPro software was used for data entry and the data exported to Microsoft Excel 2016 for descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that high education.....
